Position Overview

We currently have an opportunity in our Burlington, ON location for a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our company in the role of Structural Design Engineer.
As our ideal candidate you will be results driven, organized, professional, and embrace a proactive approach to your work.The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the design, analysis and development of high-quality steel and aluminum products.

Work location to be determined between our two Ontario offices, the King Canada manufacturing plant in Stoney Creek and Head Office in Burlington. Possibility of a hybrid arrangement between the two locations.


  • Conduct structural analysis and design for steel and aluminum poles and arms.
  • Analyse results from destructive testing to determine the structural capacity of the metal pole and arm assemblies.
  • Identify potential issues and implement solutions proactively.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Assist Marketing in creating and maintaining customer facing specification sheets.
  • Work with Sales and Production to ensure customer requirements are being met and drawings are produced as requested and within established deadlines.
  • Manage and oversee engineering change notices, confirming changes required and ensuring the changes are reflected correctly.
  • Under the direction of the Engineering Director, acts a support to the Engineering Design Technologist(s), assisting with training & development as required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field combined with minimum 3 years experience in metal design.
  • Professional Engineering license is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory/management experience is an asset.
  • Must be trained in and have extensive knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • A solid understanding of the principles of solid mechanics and beam theory.
  • Understanding of the principles of aluminum casting theory (sand, permanent, mold, die), and of strength materials and mechanical and welded connections of steel and aluminum.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems relating to part and bill of material (BOM) creation
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accountable and results driven, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Some travel required to job sites to assist in new product development and/or product support.
