Position Overview

We currently have an opportunity in our Burlington, ON location for a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our company in the role of Engineering Design Technologist. As our ideal candidate you will be results driven, organized, professional, and embrace a proactive approach to your work.

This position will play a key role in the development, assembly, and testing of new and existing metal arm and pole assemblies and their parts.

Work location will be between our two Ontario offices, the King Canada manufacturing plant in Stoney Creek and Head Office in Burlington.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of new product designs in accordance with our standardized design process
  • Assist in quotation, estimation, and procurement of new products.
  • Maintain production and specification drawings.
  • Work on engineering change notices to assist with potential issues relating to manufacturing and design.
  • Perform design calculations and product testing.
  • Identify potential issues and implement solutions proactively.
  • Identify enhancement opportunities within existing products and procedures.
  • Work with Sales and Production to ensure customer requirements are being met and drawings are produced as requested and within established deadlines.
  • Assist in preparing and facilitating ISO Audits internally.

Requirements

  • Post secondary diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Must be trained in and have extensive knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and 3D software (Inventor preferred).
  • A solid understanding of the principles of solid mechanics and beam theory.
  • Understanding of the principles of aluminum casting theory (sand, permanent, mold, die), and of strength materials and mechanical and welded connections of steel and aluminum.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems relating to part and bill of material (BOM) creation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accountable and results driven, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Some travel required to job sites to assist in new product development and/or product support.
