Position Overview

We currently have an opportunity in our Burlington, ON location for a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our company in the role of Manufacturing Engineer/Engineering Technologist. As our ideal candidate you will be results driven, organized, professional, and embrace a proactive approach to your work.

This position will play a key role in optimizing production processes, ensuring quality of standards, and fostering collaboration between design engineering and production. This role will involve spending approximately 60% of the time in the plant and 40% of the time in the office.


Responsibilities

  • Liaise between Design Engineering and Production, providing valuable feedback on feasibility, ease of manufacturing, and potential improvements to design for better production outcomes.
  • Analyze and optimize production processes to ensure efficient and timely concrete manufacturing, while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to determine underlying causes of scrap and off quality issues.
  • Work with suppliers to select appropriate raw material for concrete production based on desired properties. Work alongside Quality Control (QC) to assess the performance of concrete mixes, identifying areas of improvement.
  • Manage engineering change notices, ensuring that any modifications are smoothly integrated into the production process with minimal to no disruption.
  • Analyze test results from destructive testing, identifying trends, patterns, and potential areas of improvement.
  • Manage prestressing strand charts and update values based on equipment calibrations.
  • Collaborate with other Plant Engineers at other locations to standardize and discuss process improvements, share information, and partake in training & development.
  • Occasionally conduct off-site pole inspections to ensure products meet quality standards and performance expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Civil, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or a related field combined with minimum 3-5 years experience in concrete manufacturing or construction.
  • Professional Engineering license considered an asset.
  • Must be trained in and have extensive knowledge of CAD software.
  • Proficiency in project management and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accountable and results driven, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
